Cold Seal
Cold seal is an adhesive that bonds to itself under pressure at ambient temperatures and is formulated to prevent tack to non-cold seal surfaces.
Due to the pressure inside the roll where cold seal pattern has been applied, release lacquers are used preventing the film from sticking.
Used for heat sensitive products such as chocolate and ice cream, or products that run on very high speed machines or combination of high speed packaging machines and for heat sensitive products. It is often used for medical packaging material such as bandages.
The process of cold seal application could take place during printing, or in the case of multi-layer material configurations, offline using a cold seal applicator.
